Junior Ace

The Junior Ace, produced by Ace Aircraft Company, entered service in 2012 as the firm’s first entry‑level trainer aimed at reducing the barrier to flight training. Developed from the successful Ace Skywing platform, the Junior Ace incorporated a high‑wing composite airframe, a 115‑horsepower Rotax 912 iS engine, and a fully digital glass cockpit featuring the Garmin G3X Touch suite. Its lightweight construction, retractable 2‑seat configuration, and low stall speed of 38 knots made it especially forgiving for novice pilots while still delivering respectable cruise performance of 115 kt at 75 percent power. Safety was further enhanced by an integrated ballistic parachute system and modern stall‑warning aids. Since its launch, more than 1,200 units have been delivered to flight schools and private owners worldwide, earning the Junior Ace several industry awards for operating‑cost efficiency and pilot‑training effectiveness. The aircraft’s affordability and ease of maintenance have helped expand general‑aviation participation, particularly in emerging markets, and it is credited with reviving interest in light‑sport training aircraft during the 2010s. The Junior Ace continues to influence contemporary trainer design through its blend of advanced avionics, low‑cost operation, and robust safety features.
