Aero East Europe Sila

The Aero East Europe Sila is a light sport aircraft produced in Serbia by the manufacturer Aero East Europe. Development began in the early 2000s, when the company sought to create a modern, cost‑effective trainer and recreational airplane that complied with both European Microlight and US Light‑Sport Aircraft regulations. The prototype first flew in 2007, and series production started shortly thereafter, making the Sila one of the few domestically designed aircraft to reach the international market from the Balkans.

Key features include a high‑wing, all‑metal construction with a steel tube fuselage, composite wingtips, and a spacious cabin that seats two side‑by‑side. It is powered by a reliable Rotax 912ULS engine delivering 100 hp, providing a cruise speed of around 115 kt and a range of 600 km. Fixed tricycle landing gear, excellent short‑field performance, and optional glass‑cockpit avionics give the aircraft versatility for flight training, sightseeing, and personal transport.

The Sila’s significance lies in its contribution to the growth of European light‑sport aviation, demonstrating that small manufacturers can deliver certified, high‑quality aircraft that meet global standards while promoting aviation development in Eastern Europe.
