Calidus

The Calidus is a modern two‑seat autogyro produced by German specialist AutoGyro GmbH. Development began in 2013 as a response to growing demand for a fast, comfortable gyroplane that could operate from short fields and comply with advanced safety standards. Certification was achieved in 2015 under European CS‑22 rules, and the model entered series production the following year, quickly becoming the company’s flagship offering.

Key features include a fully carbon‑fiber fuselage, a powerful Rotax 912iS engine delivering 100 hp, and a coaxial‑type rotor system with composite blades that provide a cruise speed of 140 km/h and a range of over 500 km. The cockpit is equipped with digital avionics, heated seats, and an optional ballistic parachute, while the wide cabin door and high‑set landing gear simplify loading and ground handling. The Calidus also incorporates a patented “stiff‑blade” rotor hub that reduces vibration and extends blade life.

In aviation, the Calidus represents a significant step forward for gyroplane technology, proving that rotary‑wing aircraft can deliver performance, comfort, and reliability comparable to conventional light aircraft, thereby expanding the market for recreational and utility flight worldwide and beyond.
