Boeing 737-300
The Boeing 737‑300 is the first model of the 737 Classic series, introduced in 1984 as a development of the original 737‑200. Boeing built the aircraft to meet growing demand for a higher‑capacity, more fuel‑efficient narrow‑body jet, extending the fuselage by 10 feet and adding a larger wing with increased span and new high‑lift devices. Powered by CFM56‑3 turbofan engines, the 737‑300 delivers up to 27,000 pounds of thrust, reducing noise and emissions compared to earlier Pratt & Whitney JT8D powerplants. The cockpit features an advanced glass panel and a common type rating with later 737 versions, simplifying pilot transition and airline fleet integration. With a typical seating capacity of 128‑149 passengers and a range of roughly 2,300 nautical miles, the 737‑300 quickly became popular among low‑cost carriers and regional airlines worldwide. Over 1,100 units were produced before production ended in 1999, establishing the 737 as the best‑selling commercial jet family. Its reliability, operational flexibility, and extensive aftermarket support have cemented the 737‑300’s legacy as a workhorse that helped shape modern air travel and set the benchmark for subsequent 737 developments.
