Bombardier Challenger 604
The Bombardier Challenger 604 is a business jet that emerged from Canadair’s long‑standing Challenger line. First rolled out in 1995, the 604 was introduced to the market in 1997 as the most powerful and longest‑range version of the series, building on the earlier Challenger 601/602 models. Powered by two General Electric CF34‑3B1 turbofan engines, the aircraft can cruise at Mach 0.78 and reach a maximum range of roughly 4,000 nautical miles, allowing non‑stop trans‑continental flights such as New York to London. Its spacious cabin, typically configured for 10 to 12 passengers, offers a flat floor, standing height of 6 ft 2 in, and modular interiors that can be tailored for meetings, sleeping quarters, or lounge arrangements. Advanced avionics, including a Collins ProLine 4 flight deck with dual LCD displays and an integrated autopilot, enhance safety and reduce crew workload. The Challenger 604 quickly became popular with corporate operators, charter services, and government agencies, cementing its reputation for reliability, low operating costs, and versatile performance. Its success helped solidify Bombardier’s position as a leading manufacturer of midsize business jets throughout the late‑1990s and early 2000s.
