Mirage 2000D/N

The Mirage 2000D/N is a French‑designed, single‑engine, multirole combat aircraft built by Dassault Aviation. Developed in the late 1980s as a ground‑attack variant of the Mirage 2000 family, the 2000D (designated Mirage 2000-5F in export markets) first flew on 20 February 1988 and entered service with the French Air Force in 1995, while the two‑seat trainer/combat version, the Mirage 2000N, was introduced a year earlier for nuclear strike missions. Powered by a SNECMA M53‑P2 turbofan delivering 93 kN thrust, the aircraft features fly‑by‑wire control, a glass cockpit with heads‑up display, and the DELA‑10 electronic warfare suite. Its armament includes the Precision‑Guided Mica IR/EM missiles, the AASM/Scalam missile, and the nuclear ASMP‑A cruise missile on the N version. The robust airframe, low radar cross‑section, and ability to operate from austere airfields make it a versatile platform for strike, reconnaissance, and deterrence roles. Over 400 units have been exported to countries such as India, Greece, and Brazil, cementing the Mirage 2000D/N as a cornerstone of modern European tactical air power and a testament to Dassault’s long‑standing expertise in delta‑wing fighter design. Continual upgrades, including modernized avionics and integration of advanced precision weapons, keep the Mirage 2000D/N competitive well into the 2020s.
