Mohajer-6
The Mohajer‑6 is a medium‑range tactical unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Iran’s Defense Industries Organization (DIO) as a successor to the earlier Mohajer series. Development began in 2014, and the aircraft entered operational service with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in late 2018 after extensive flight testing that demonstrated improved endurance and payload capacity. The Mohajer‑6 features a sleek composite airframe with a 7‑meter wingspan, a rear‑mounted pusher engine delivering about 70 horsepower, and a maximum take‑off weight near 550 kilograms. Its avionics suite includes a digital autopilot, satellite‑linked communications, and a suite of electro‑optical/infrared sensors that enable real‑time reconnaissance, target acquisition, and electronic warfare missions. Endurance reaches up to 24 hours at a service ceiling of 25,000 feet, while the payload bay can carry up to 150 kilograms of surveillance equipment or light munitions. The UAV’s significance lies in providing Iran with a domestically produced, low‑cost platform that enhances situational awareness and strike capability without reliance on foreign suppliers. Its deployment has also marked a strategic shift toward indigenous UAV development in the region, influencing neighboring states’ procurement strategies.
