Shavit
The Shavit, developed by Gulfstream Aerospace, entered the market in 2018 as the company’s first dedicated ultra‑long‑range business jet built around a composite‑rich airframe. The program began in 2014 when Gulfstream sought to replace the aging G550 with a platform capable of nonstop trans‑Pacific flights while offering a cabin larger than any of its competitors. After five years of testing, the first production aircraft rolled out of Savannah in September 2018 and entered service with a European charter operator later that year.
Key features of the Shavit include a 75‑ft wingspan made of carbon‑fiber reinforced polymer, a new PW812D turbofan that provides a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.94, and a range of 7,500 nautical miles with a four‑passenger layout. The pressurised cabin maintains a sea‑level equivalent altitude of 6,000 ft, reducing passenger fatigue, and the interior can be customised with three distinct zones, a full‑size galley, and a dedicated crew rest area. Advanced avionics, based on the Gulfstream Symmetry™ Flight Deck, incorporate touchscreen controls, synthetic‑vision and real‑time health monitoring.
The Shavit’s impact on aviation is evident in redefining intercontinental business travel, prompting rivals to adopt similar composite structures and longer‑range capabilities, and reinforcing Gulfstream’s reputation for speed, efficiency and cabin comfort.
