Paramount Mwari

The Paramount Mwari is a light utility aircraft developed by South Africa’s Paramount Group, introduced in 2021 to address the growing demand for versatile, low‑cost platforms in remote and austere environments. Conceptualized as a modern successor to the company’s earlier “Mamba” family, the Mwari’s design draws on decades of experience in surveillance and transport, combining a rugged all‑composite airframe with a high‑wing configuration that offers exceptional short‑take‑off and landing (STOL) capabilities on unprepared strips. Powered by a 360‑horsepower turboprop engine, the aircraft cruises at 260 kt and can carry up to 1,200 kg of payload, accommodating passengers, cargo, medical evacuation kits, or surveillance equipment. Its glass cockpit integrates satellite‑linked avionics, synthetic‑vision displays and a fully digital flight‑control system, allowing one‑pilot operation under IFR. Since entering service, the Mwari has been adopted by several African air forces, humanitarian NGOs and private operators, proving its reliability in bush‑flying, disaster‑relief and border‑patrol missions. The aircraft’s blend of affordability, adaptability and modern technology has positioned it as a catalyst for expanding regional connectivity and enhancing operational readiness across underserved airspaces. Future upgrades are planned to incorporate hybrid‑electric propulsion, further reducing operating costs and emissions.
