Solid Air Diamant Twin

The Solid Air Diamant Twin is a German‑designed ultralight aircraft built by Solid Air UL‑Bau Franz. Development began in the early 2000s as a two‑seat evolution of the popular single‑seat Diamant, aiming to meet the European microlight (E‑LA) and US Light‑Sport Aircraft regulations while offering greater payload and cross‑country capability. First flights occurred in 2005 and the type quickly earned certification from the Deutscher Aero‑Club, allowing it to be registered in most European countries.

Key features include a high‑wing, all‑composite airframe that combines lightweight strength with low drag, and a side‑by‑side cockpit under a large transparent canopy for excellent visibility. The aircraft can be powered by a Rotax 912ULS or the newer 915 iS, delivering 100–115 hp and enabling cruise speeds of 110–120 kt with a range of roughly 700 km. Fixed tricycle landing gear, flaps, and optional ballistic parachute enhance safety and handling on short fields.
