Storm Aircraft
Storm Sea Storm
The Storm Sea Storm, introduced by Italian manufacturer Storm Aircraft in 2015, quickly became a benchmark for ultra‑light amphibious aviation. Designed originally as a response to a growing demand for a versatile trainer that could operate from both water and conventional runways, the Sea Storm built on the proven lineage of the Storm Eagle series while incorporating a composite hull and retractable tricycle gear. Its 100‑horse‑power Rotax 912 ULS engine delivers a cruise speed of 115 kt and a range of 700 km, while the high‑lift wing with full‑span flaperons gives exceptional short‑field performance on water. The cockpit features a glass‑panel avionics suite with GPS, synthetic‑vision and a dual‑control layout, allowing flight schools to conduct multi‑environment training with a single airframe. Over 250 units have been sold worldwide, serving coast‑guard patrols, eco‑tourism operators and private enthusiasts. The Sea Storm’s reliability, low operating cost and amphibious capability have influenced newer designs, prompting a resurgence of interest in light seaplanes and reinforcing Storm Aircraft’s reputation as an innovator in the general‑aviation sector. Today the model continues to receive incremental upgrades, such as carbon‑fiber propellers and optional electric‑assist systems, ensuring its relevance for the next decade.
