TL Ultralight
TL-2000
The TL‑2000 is a high‑performance ultralight aircraft produced by TL Ultralight, a Czech company founded in the early 1990s by engineers Tomáš Landa. Development began in 1998 as a response to growing demand for fast, fuel‑efficient sport flyers that could operate from short grass strips. The prototype first flew in spring 2000, and after a series of flight‑test refinements it entered limited production in 2002. The TL‑2000 features a sleek, low‑drag composite wing with a 9.5‑meter span, a carbon‑fiber fuselage, and a side‑by‑side cockpit offering excellent visibility. Power is supplied by a Rotax 912ULS engine delivering 100 hp, giving a cruise speed of 260 km/h and a range of roughly 1,200 km. Advanced avionics include a glass cockpit with GPS navigation, engine monitoring, and an autopilot optional package. Its lightweight construction, responsive handling, and relatively low operating costs have made the TL‑2000 popular among flight schools and recreational pilots across Europe. The aircraft’s success helped TL Ultralight establish a reputation for innovative design, contributing to the broader acceptance of composite ultralights in modern aviation. It earned EASA certification in 2003 and has since been adopted by more than 30 flight clubs, reinforcing its role as a benchmark for contemporary ultralight performance.
