UKRSPECSYSTEMS PD-2

The Ukrspecsystems PD‑2 is a twin‑engine, high‑wing utility aircraft developed by the Ukrainian aerospace firm Ukrspecsystems in the early 2020s. Conceived as a modern replacement for aging Soviet‑era transports, the program began in 2018 under a government‑backed initiative to boost domestic production and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers. The first prototype flew in September 2021, and after a rigorous flight‑test campaign the type entered limited series production in 2024.

Key features include two turboprop engines delivering 1,200 shaft horsepower each, a rugged all‑metal airframe with corrosion‑resistant coatings, and a spacious cabin configurable for cargo, medevac, or passenger layouts up to 28 seats. Advanced glass‑cockpit avionics provide satellite navigation, synthetic‑vision display and fly‑by‑wire assistance, while reinforced landing gear enables operation from unpaved strips as short as 800 meters. The PD‑2’s range of 2,200 km and a maximum take‑off weight of 12 t give it versatility for regional transport, disaster relief and border‑patrol missions.

Its introduction marks a significant step for Ukrainian aviation, showcasing indigenous design capability, revitalising the national supply chain and offering an affordable, adaptable platform for both civilian operators and military customers worldwide.
